Act Against Injustice Charity Events 2011/3!

Planned UK Charity events for 2011/ 2013

AAI Swim Challenge

Between 27 July to 12 August 2012 athletes from all over the world will be preparing to compete in London, UK for the Olympic Games; Preparations will also be taking place that year for the Act Against Injustice UK National Charity event as it's resident Executive Director is planning a historic feat of his own to raise money for trafficked and impoverished children.

In the late Summer of 2012 John Wearne will complete the AAI annual extreme challenge...

of swimming non-stop across the North Channel, UK. The 42-year-old isn't just interested in achieving this as a personal goal; he is crossing the dangerous sea route to help sponsor, feed, clothe and educate children and also help fund projects to fight child trafficking.

John and his team intend to swim and acclimatize in the cold water Lakes Derwent and Ullswater, UK in early to mid 2012 initially as a warm-up to this and then take to the Irish Sea in July/ August 2012. He said: "The training will be tough and I will have to cut down on beer and chocolates, but it will all be worth it." John will be the sole swimmer and their goal is to reach Ireland some 4 hours later after a hard, non-stop swim from Rathlin Island to Ballycastle. He remarked that “Although it's not as far, it’s just as hard really as swimming the English Channel because of the tide and currents, the water is far colder and the threat of mild hyperthermia and of jellyfish stings is ever-present. If the currents are too strong then there is a backup plan of mid September to go again and complete this”.

'For me it's the equivalent of say climbing the highest peaks. It is a great challenge for me, said john. ‘More importantly I'm doing it for the children, to draw attention to the evil crime of sex-trafficking and the millions of young children that are enslaved within this industry.' I think about each morning that I will have to get up early to swim; then I think about the child-traffickers who get up just as early to profit from their work. They are so committed to what they do; so should we be in fighting this evil, so all this doesn’t really seem like a challenge to me then”.

Asked what friends and family thought of him taking on the perilous challenge of cold, exhaustion, cramp and jellyfish, john said: “Most of them probably think that I am mad! They are probably right. Having already swam in the English Channel in my preparation in July 2011 I am aware of just how cold and choppy the sea can be, so I‘m totally aware of the dangers out there. It can be a very rough crossing, but I'm mentally and physically prepared for the task and totally motivated,' he said.

Most of the work of the Charity Act Against Injustice is for trafficked children and there are projects, such as the building of safe houses, sponsoring of impoverished children, etc that john wants to use the sponsorship money for. “For only £23.00 per month (approx 70p a day) / £28.00 for businesses, an impoverished child can be sponsored and through this monthly donation we can safeguard these children and supply them with one hot meal a day; a placement at a nursery/ school; books and literature to educate them and a one day holiday trip; as well as Christmas and birthday presents. Our Business against Trafficking is also a perfect way for businesses to do something to help in the fight and also support a worthwhile charity.

The thought alone that you are doing something for them is incredibly satisfying and I would recommend sponsoring a child to everyone; you are literally giving a child a life; whereas currently they are enslaved by the system and forced to eat from rubbish bins and cannot progress at all academically, to me that is no life, so this is what motivates me to do what I’m doing.”

John is aiming to reach £10,000 in sponsorship to get the safehouse up and running and to provide the first years maintenance for the house and aims to provide regular monthly funding for 10 children through additional monthly sponsorship. A note from Robert

You can buy either individual tracks, or the album, here. Proceeds from the album will help raise much needed finance for our work; the album is called ‘Unto the Lamb.’ The creation of the album has been a labour of love, I have been careful with the creation of the album so that it is theologically correct. I would ask you to seriously consider supporting us by buying my music and in anticipation I would like to thank you for purchasing my songs. All you need to do is click on the link and that will take you directly to my music. If you buy the album you would be helping Act Against Injustice and those that we serve. Please also recommend it to others. May God bless you and thank you?
